Edible Flowers | An urban walk in San Francisco

Edible Flowers | An urban walk in San Francisco

MillieLottie Edible Flowers

This time of year is one of my favorites. I LOVE  LOVE LOVE the wild weeds that line all the paths and trails in the Bay Area. I actually thought until a conversation with park personnel today, that these flowers were Wild Arugula, similar in size, shape and texture but not as peppery. I found out today, when I confesse picking some for my lunch, they are in fact, Wild Radish (Raphanus Raphanistrum) I love them more when I found out they are known as Radical Radish. Today, on my loop around Stern Grove, there were three varieties, white, variegated, yellow and pink. I add them and Nasturtium flowers to my salads and veggie dishes. Both flowers are a bit fragile and wilt quite quickly so if you want them fresh, eat them as you walk. Oh and pick the ones pretty high, away from the dogs!

Today on my urban walk with Amos, I snapped a photo of every blooming flower on my loop. I had a foggy love affair with our city.
