SASHIKO (Art of Japanese Mending) + Soup Salon NOV 4
$75.00 $0.00
Come gather for an evening of soup, stitching, and shared imagination. Our MENDING Salon + Soup brings back the timeless tradition of stitching circles and quilting bees—where hands are busy, conversation flows easily, and creativity is nourished by community.
Guided by Susan Robinson and Jan Hammock, you’ll transform a piece(s) of your well-loved own clothing through playful upcycling—through the age-old technique of Japanese mending.
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery technique that transforms simple stitches into elegant, geometric patterns. Originally used to mend and reinforce clothing, it weaves practicality with beauty, turning repair into an act of quiet artistry. White thread dancing across indigo fabric captures a deep sense of harmony and patience. Each stitch is deliberate and meditative, reflecting a philosophy that finds beauty in care, attention, and imperfection. Sashiko is a celebration of endurance and the quiet poetry of handmade craft—each stitch telling a story of grace, patience, and the art of making the broken whole.
